Yarrow Aiko Koontz

STUDIO

Indigo Tails

Yarrow Aiko Anais Koontz is a half-Japanese, fourth-generation Nikkei artist whose work centres on repair, reuse, and resilience through natural dyes, cyanotype, embroidery, and textiles. She holds a Fine Arts degree from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, where she studied on a full scholarship, as well as a diploma in Fashion Arts and a Permaculture Design Certificate. Since 2015, she has worked with indigo and other natural dyes—many of which she grows herself—and has been teaching Indigo Shindigo workshops since 2019. Yarrow is a member of the Vancouver Island Fibreshed and loves to spend time with like-valued folks.
