Ray Appel

I love common, playful images in my paintings. This playfulness began when I began studies at Emily Carr, but then I moved  in the early eighties to do a three year Diploma in Classical Animation at one of the best animation schools in North America. When I graduated, there was very little work in animation so I moved into the world of graphic arts, and then later education.
My current painting work often evokes happy memories of wearing sneakers on the beaches of Gabriola, seascapes on Gabriola or beloved pets of local Gabriolans.  My work is mostly in acrylics, and I have recently included resin in my work. I  live on Gabriola full time.
