Susie Gilmour

Originally, I studied watercolour painting and loved the process but became drawn to Abstract and the challenge of facing a blank canvas. I worked with acrylics, watercolors, folded and manipulated papers but still pushed for more. The accidental discovery of Fluid Art lead to allowing the paint to tell its own story. Now I am exploring the world of intuitive art.

I’m not looking to paint something…I’m waiting for the painting to find me. Each piece is a lengthy discovery. Through Layers of mixed media, something will eventually reveal itself and the hardest part is knowing when to stop. Could be hours, weeks or months. Intuitive art is a never ending exploration of texture, colour, mark making and letting go. The enemy is overthinking and control. My inspiration is the glorious ever changing beauty that is Gabriola.
